Why a term called ‘Work-Life Balance’ came into act?
This term actually
started to popularize only in past two decades.then where was this term
before?
Back then ‘Work-Life
Balance’ was popular among the people who were ruling or accountable for the welfare
of a group of people, since they had time only to look after their work rather
than spending time for their personal life.
Later with
modernization, people were pushed into a well where there is no ladder to climb
back, still they were made to pay for that ladder. Paying for one feasible
thing is possible but for that one thing which is not feasible?
This is where we have
been controlled for decades, they made us think that we can buy it by earning much
and with this thought many started exploiting us. Well people are good in
exploiting.
Later came a cruel term
which went hand in hand with ‘Work-Life Balance’ called appraisal. This made us
think that working for an extra hour a day could get us paid more. Finally
could you sense the popularity of ‘Work-Life Balance’?
Many people are
struggling to balance their Work life and Real life but it is easier than it
seems to be. Start by separating your work from your life.
How to get involved in
this separation process? Well, there are few points to stick on to for
achieving this.
Differentiate your Work and Life:
The place where you put
in efforts to be happy only for the last day of month is where your work is.
The place where you put in efforts to be happy for your
entire span is where your life is.
Prioritize according to the time:
Don’t keep one thing prioritized over the other
all the time instead prioritize them according the time of the day, because
both work and life are really important.
If you are to concentrate more on one thing you will
obviously fail in another and that will strike an imbalance in your work and
life.
Balancing Art of Work and Life
No matter what you do and how much you do, at
the end you will be paid only a fixed amount.
WORK IN YOUR LIFE BUT DON’T
LIVE IN YOUR WORK
No one is going to pay you for the extra hours you spend in
your work, so stop bringing your work home. Being said so, work only for the
hours you are being paid for.
At first working extra hours feels like you are hardworking
but as the time flies by, you are creating a profile of your own that you will work
extra hours daily, driving yourself into an unnecessary imbalance in life.
Work and Life Limit:
One thing that matters over every other thing is
that knowing the limits. Your life and work end at the entrance of your
workplace.
You would have had an odd day in your office, result of
which should not be reflected to your family.
Also your workplace is not the one where you discuss your
family issues, not everyone are interested in knowing that, which I understood
in a hard way. Also there are few who are always ready to play with your
emotions.
Time Management:
Recently I came across a video which glorifies an
8-8-8 rule for managing your work and life.
First 8 hours is for the work which earns you money to
satisfy your needs, second 8 hours is for the healthy sleep in a day and third
8 hours is for family, friends, hobby, and hygiene.
WORK AND LIFE IS THE
BALANCE SHEET THAT EVERYONE SHOULD LEARN TO TALLY
Managing this third 8 hours of
the day is where your maturity level lies and also determines what you will
achieve in later part of your life.
Be fixed to your rules:
Now I assume that you would have made up your mind to
follow some points but that is not where it ends. You should not be breaking the
rules of yours no matter what the reason is.
YOU NEED TO STAND UP FOR
YOURSELF AS NONE WILL DO IT FOR YOU
Be frank on deadlines in work, as you are the one who knows
your capabilities. Manage your work in such a way that you would meet the
deadlines by working for what you get paid.
